The new fitness tracker can do that
With the Charge 5, Fitbit is presenting a tracker for the first time that has similarly extensive functions as a smartwatch. The Fitbit Charge 5 can now be pre-ordered - sales will start in autumn. techwadia
Since the introduction of
the Fitbit Charge in 2014, the fitness tracker has been continuously developed. The
recently introduced Fitbit Charge 5 also has new features - both form and
functions have also been improved.
The Fitbit Charge 5 is
completely new (see the comparison of the previous) - which is now also
equipped with a color display - the daily readiness score or daily form index:
based on previous activities, the sleep quality of the past few days and the
heart rate variability, the tracker calculates when the best time for a workout
is - or on which days you should instead limit yourself to regeneration.
However, only Fitbit Premium subscribers can use this feature
(8.99 euros / month, 79.99 euros per year).
For the latest generation,
the Fitbit Charge 5 has received a more than decent upgrade. Many of the
activity tracker's functions can only be found on smartwatches, such as This
includes, for example, stress measurement via electrodermal activity (EDA). With
the EDA scan, the current stress is determined within two minutes via tiny
changes in the sweat glands of the fingers - and a stress management index is
determined.
EKG measurement
The EKG app for the Charge 5 should
also be available at the start of sales. An ECG can be recorded via the
biosensors in the frame and on the back of the activity tracker and the heart
rhythm can be checked for possible atrial fibrillation. Despite these new
features, the Fitbit Charge 5 is around 10 percent thinner than its predecessor
- and of course it still has all the important fitness features:

Premium: The health and workout app
With a health dashboard, the free version of the Fitbit app
already offers a good overview of the values determined. If you want to
know more, take out a premium subscription - when you buy the Fitbit Charge 5,
you get 6 months free trial, after which you pay 8.99 euros per month. In
return, you not only get deeper insights into your health data, but also many
workout and meditation exercises. Most recently, Fitbit has also been
cooperating with the sleep and relaxation specialists of the Calm app - who
also make various programs available free of charge in the Fitbit app for
premium users.
